A long time ago, in a village at the edge of a forest, there lived a girl named Mira.
ઘણા સમય પહેલાં, જંગલના કિનારે આવેલા એક ગામમાં, મીરા નામની એક છોકરી રહેતી હતી.
Mira was not tall and she was not strong, but she was very kind.
મીરા ઊંચી નહોતી અને તે મજબૂત પણ નહોતી, પરંતુ તે ખૂબ જ દયાળુ હતી.
Every evening, her grandmother gave her a small lantern.
દરરોજ સાંજે તેની દાદી તેને એક નાનકડું ફાનસ આપતી.
The lantern had a warm yellow light.
ફાનસમાં ગરમ પીળો પ્રકાશ હતો.
Mira carried it to the edge of the village and hung it on an old wooden post.
મીરા તેને ગામની ધાર સુધી લઈ ગઈ અને લાકડાના જૂના થાંભલા પર લટકાવી.
Why do we do this every night?

Mira asked.
મીરાએ પૂછ્યું.
Her grandmother smiled.
