The Night Watchman at the Museum

Nikolai Petrovich guarded the local history museum for forty years.

Every night he walked around the seven halls with a flashlight.

He knew every exhibit and could talk about it for hours.

He was especially fond of the old boat in the third hall.

One winter, the heating was turned off in the museum for a week.

Nikolai Petrovich brought blankets from home and covered the windows.

The director laughed, but said nothing.

In the spring, it turned out that not a single exhibit was damaged.
