Rain tapped gently against the tall arched windows of the old community center as dusk fell over the bustling city. Inside, the warm glow from the overhead lamps created a welcoming refuge from the chilly evening air. Clara adjusted her woven cotton scarf, checking her wristwatch as she hurried up the stone steps. She was slightly late, having lost track of time while finishing a complex project at her design office. Pushing open the heavy wooden door, she was instantly greeted by the soothing scent of lavender and eucalyptus. The botanical illustration class had already gathered around the large wooden table in the center of the room. Before she could even step fully inside, several voices called out cheerful greetings across the studio. Over here, Clara! shouted Leo, a retired carpenter who sat near the front with his sketchbook open. Next to him, Maya pulled back a sturdy wooden chair, patting the woven hemp cushion invitingly. At this point, everyone in the evening class knew Clara by name, and someone always saved her a seat. It was hard to believe that just six months ago, she had been too timid to even walk through the front door.
