A long time ago, in a village at the edge of a forest, there lived a girl named Mira.
Колись давно, у селі на краю лісу, жила дівчина на ім'я Міра.
Mira was not tall and she was not strong, but she was very kind.
Міра не була високою і не сильною, але дуже доброю.
Every evening, her grandmother gave her a small lantern.
Щовечора бабуся дарувала їй маленький ліхтар.
The lantern had a warm yellow light.
Ліхтар світився теплим жовтим світлом.
Mira carried it to the edge of the village and hung it on an old wooden post.
Міра віднесла його на околицю села і повісив на старий дерев'яний стовп.
Why do we do this every night?
Чому ми робимо це щоночі?
Mira asked.
— запитала Міра.
Her grandmother smiled.
Її бабуся посміхнулася.
