A long time ago, in a village at the edge of a forest, there lived a girl named Mira.

Mira was not tall and she was not strong, but she was very kind.

Every evening, her grandmother gave her a small lantern.

The lantern had a warm yellow light.
Фонарь светился тёплым жёлтым светом.
Mira carried it to the edge of the village and hung it on an old wooden post.
Мира отнесла его к окраине деревни и повесила на старый деревянный столб.
Why do we do this every night?

Mira asked.
— спросила Мира.
Her grandmother smiled.
