A long time ago, in a village at the edge of a forest, there lived a girl named Mira.
फार पूर्वी जंगलाच्या काठावर असलेल्या एका गावात मीरा नावाची एक मुलगी राहत होती.
Mira was not tall and she was not strong, but she was very kind.
मीरा उंच नव्हती आणि ती मजबूत नव्हती, पण ती खूप दयाळू होती.
Every evening, her grandmother gave her a small lantern.
रोज संध्याकाळी आजीने तिला एक छोटा कंदील दिला.
The lantern had a warm yellow light.
कंदिलाला उबदार पिवळा प्रकाश होता.
Mira carried it to the edge of the village and hung it on an old wooden post.
मीराने ते गावाच्या काठावर नेले आणि एका जुन्या लाकडी खांबावर टांगले.
Why do we do this every night?
आपण हे रोज रात्री का करतो?
Mira asked.
मीराने विचारले.
