Clara opened the heavy wooden closet in her living room. She looked through the stacks of neatly folded cotton blankets. Deep in the back, she found a dusty canvas bag. She carefully pulled the large bag out onto the floor. Inside lay an unfinished quilt wrapped in soft blue tissue paper. Clara felt a sudden wave of nostalgia wash over her. She had started this craft project exactly five years ago. Back then, her life felt very quiet and somewhat uncertain. She had gathered many colorful pieces of cotton and linen fabrics. She wanted to make something warm for her small cozy home. However, busy work schedules and daily life had interrupted her plans. The project had stayed hidden in the dark closet for years. Clara picked up the colorful fabric pieces with gentle hands. She gently blew the tiny dust particles off the surface. The quilt was almost three quarters finished already. Only the outer edges and a few patches were missing. Each patch of fabric told a lovely story from her past. A bright yellow patch came from an old cotton summer dress. She had worn that dress during a memorable mountain vacation. A green square recalled a sunny picnic in the botanical gardens.
