A long time ago, in a village at the edge of a forest, there lived a girl named Mira.
منذ زمن بعيد، في قرية على حافة غابة، كانت تعيش فتاة تدعى ميرا.
Mira was not tall and she was not strong, but she was very kind.
لم تكن ميرا طويلة ولم تكن قوية، لكنها كانت طيبة جدا.
Every evening, her grandmother gave her a small lantern.
كل مساء، كانت جدتها تعطيها فانوسا صغيرا.
The lantern had a warm yellow light.
كان للفانوس ضوء أصفر دافئ.
Mira carried it to the edge of the village and hung it on an old wooden post.
حملته ميرا إلى حافة القرية وعلقته على عمود خشبي قديم.
Why do we do this every night?
لماذا نفعل هذا كل ليلة؟
Mira asked.
سألت ميرا.
Her grandmother smiled.
ابتسمت جدتها.
